World Water Day – Raising Awareness

Water is one of the most essential elements for life on earth. It is necessary for various activities, including drinking, cooking, cleaning, and agriculture. Unfortunately, water scarcity is a growing concern in many parts of the world. According to the United Nations, around 2.2 billion people lack access to safe drinking water, and by 2050, over half of the world’s population could face water shortages.

What is World Water Day?

Every year, on March 22, the world observes World Water Day. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of freshwater and the need for sustainable management of water resources. This year’s theme is “Valuing Water,” which aims to highlight the vital role of water in our lives and the need to value it as a precious resource.

World Water Day provides an opportunity to increase awareness about this critical issue and encourage people to take action to protect our planet’s water resources. Here are some ways you can participate in raising awareness for World Water Day:

1. Learn about the importance of water: Start by learning about the role of water in our lives and the challenges we face in ensuring its availability. Educate yourself about the impact of climate change, pollution, and over-extraction on water resources.

2. Conserve water: Conserve water by turning off the tap when not in use, fixing leaks, and reducing water usage. Use water-efficient appliances and fixtures, such as low-flow showerheads and toilets, to reduce water consumption.

3. Support organizations working to provide clean water: There are several organizations working to provide clean water to communities in need. Consider supporting these organizations by donating or volunteering your time.

4. Advocate for policies that protect water resources: Urge your elected officials to support policies that promote sustainable water management practices. Encourage them to invest in water infrastructure, support conservation efforts, and regulate pollution.

5. Spread the word: Use social media to spread awareness about World Water Day and the importance of water conservation. Share articles, infographics, and videos to educate others about this critical issue.

Something to think about

Globally over 80% of this wastewater that we as humans generate is not being treated or reused and most of the cities in developing countries do not have a system in place or the resources in order to address this issue.

This year’s campaign seeks to show people how this wastewater is in fact a valuable resource, as it is an affordable and sustainable source of water.

What can we do?

The Wellbeing team have been thinking about how we can reduce the amount of water we waste at home and of course at work, as well as spreading the message of this important day. All of the office water dispensers and water coolers we supply are designed to save considerable amounts of water waste in every workplace. Replacing a kettle with a instant boiling tap will drastically reduce water waste alone. Not only that, but the water is more hygienic and consumes less energy to run than a kettle.

Check out our full ranges of office water dispeners and boiling water taps on our website.
