Brita Water Taps

The below troubleshooting guide may have you solve any issues you have with your Brita tap to avoid calling out an engineer:

No still water coming out:

Check whether sparkling water is able to be dispensed.  If it is, then it could be that the still water side is frozen.  Try unplugging the unit for 24 hours and then see if it will work, if not, you will need to arrange for an engineer.

No sparkling water coming out:

If the sparkling button is illuminated, reset the carbonator by switching the unit off and then back on.  Also check the pressure on the CO2 regulator and that the CO2 is turned on.

Cold water coming out warm:

Check unit is plugged in and blue power light is on, consequently, if it is off, turn the machine on and wait at least 45 minutes to check whether the water is coming out cold.  Secondly, if the blue light is on, check the vents on the unit to make sure they are clear of objects and dust. Clean the vents with a soft cloth if necessary.

No hot water coming out:

If the boiler light is on, try unplugging the unit and then turn back on, wait 5 minutes for the boiler to heat up.  If hot water still doesn’t dispense, you will need to call our technical team.

Brita unit making loud noise:

Check the water supply is turned on. If it is on, this is most likely a faulty unit and will need an engineer to fix.

What does Biodegradable mean?

A biodegradable product is one that is capable of being decomposed through the metabolism of microorganisms. What this essentially means for a biodegradable plastic; is that it’s eaten!

This process leaves no trace of the product’s original existence – the carbon atoms within the plastic are broken apart; as organic molecules are created. These molecules can be processed by, and create, organic living things; generating a natural and sustainable lifecycle.

What does Compostable mean?

Compostable products are a subset of biodegradable products, which means as well as biodegrading, they also meet certain criteria under certain conditions.  Our compostable products fall into 2 categories, those that are suitable for home composting and those that are commercially compostable.

Because of the comparatively smaller volumes of waste involved, the temperature in a garden compost heap is lower and tends to be less constant than in an industrial composting environment.  This means that certified home compostable packaging can simply be placed in your home compost.  Products like these will have been rigorously tested in order to meet several standards and carry ‘OK compost HOME’ conformity mark, meaning that any component or material used in the packaging including the printing ink, and the adhesives will break down into carbon dioxide (CO2), water, inorganic compounds and biomass with no visible contaminants or toxic residue/substances suitable to decompose within a garden compost environment.

Commercially compostable products which will have been rigorously tested in order to meet the conditions as set out in EN-13432 and carry the ‘OK compost INDUSTRIAL’ conformity mark, will biodegrade by 90% within 6 months. At 12 weeks 90% of the product should pass through 2mm x 2mm mesh. This stage of testing evidences the disintegration of the packaging product. Finally, the toxicity and quality of the finished compost must not be adversely affected by the ‘compostable’ subject to safely ensure the future growth of organic life.

In order for our commercially compostable products to fulfil the lifecycle we intend for them – an infrastructure, as illustrated below, is vital. Consumers using compostable packaging must be diligent in using a designated commercial food waste stream, while avoiding the disposal of non-compostable materials that will be rejected as contaminates.

Are standard paper coffee cups biodegradable?

No, most disposable cups are not biodegradable as most coffee cups are lined with polyethylene (a type of plastic), so they will not biodegrade.

Can you recycle paper coffee cups?

Your disposable coffee cup might seem like it can be recycled because it is mostly made of paper, however a lot of single-use cups are lined with a film of polyethylene, which means the cups don’t leak but also mean they’re expensive to reprocess (because the materials have to be separated). Most waste management facilities will treat the cups as general waste unless they are sent to a dedicate recycling plant which will break them down.  The ultimate is to use a reusable cup, either a travel mug style or a china type cup but in some environments it may not be currently hygenic to.  You can read more here of how the government introduce a latte levy on disposable coffee cups to try and encourge people to use the reusable style.

Zip HydroTap &

HydroBoil Servicing

Official partner for Zip Water systems, fully trained and approved contractor for the supply, installation and service of all Zip HydroTap & HydroBoil products, including Zip Tap filters & spare parts.

Keeping your Zip Hydroboil or HydroTap in good condition is the best way to get the best return on your investment.   There’s an element that you can do yourself, such as keeping your Zip tap and the unit under the counter clean, and then the rest really needs to be left to a Zip tap service engineer who will change the filter when required and carry out a service of the unit.  A regular service (usually every 6 – 12 months) is a good idea as the Zip engineer can check wear and tear and descale the hot tank if necessary.  Helpful tip – when wiping down your Zip tap, use a cloth with warm water and a little mild soap, don’t use any strong chemicals as they could start corroding the metal and paintwork.

Choose Wellbeing Group for your Zip Hydroboil & HydroTap Servicing.  Our team of service engineers have worked on Zip products for many years and have some of the best knowledge in the industry.  We can offer a one of service on your Zip tap or an ongoing maintenance plan to cover your tap for 12 months at a time.  There are three Zip maintenance packages to choose from; Silver, Gold and Platinum depending on the level of cover you require.  Having a Zip maintenance plan with us makes it easier for you to budget for and gives you peace of mind that it will be serviced and filters changed on time.  Once a service visit is complete, you will receive an electronic copy of the Zip service report for your records.

If you’re relocating office and would like to move your Zip tap with you, we can help!  Please contact our team for a quotation for the works which will be tailored to your requirment.

What is a drainage font?

This is a stainless steel drip tray that is inset into a worktop to allow the boiling and chilled tap to be a stand alone tap away from a sink. It has its own connection to the waste and is often chosen for safety reasons. With each font is a riser of 135mm, which lifts the tap high enough to dispense into a tall glass or jug. It is optional, although some clients choose to situate the tap so it can dispense over an existing sink. Click here to see the fonts we offer for Zip Taps.

What needs to be in place to have a Zip Tap installed?

It’s important to have access to water, waste and electric within one metre of the system, as well as adequate under-counter space to house the command centre with required ventilation. How energy efficient is a Zip Tap compared to a kettle?

Zip Taps are 95% efficient at turning electricity into boiling water, making it much cheaper to run than boiling a kettle. Zip taps also create no water waste and the water being dispensed in filtered every time for a cleaner taste and more hygienic water.

Why do I need a scale filter?

Most of the UK suffers from hard water, and in some areas this can even vary according to which reservoir the water is coming from. Any brand of boiling and chilled unit will very quickly scale up if a limescale filter is not fitted, and a failure attributable to scale is not normally covered by warranty.

Do I need to buy special filters for my Zip Tap system?

Yes, you should always use the correct filter for your water system. They can be purchased directly here or speak to a member of our team if you are unsure. 01905 337187

How should I clean a Zip Tap?

Due to the premium finishes on Zip Taps, we recommended only using water with a microfibre cloth. Chemicals in cleaning products and polishes may damage the finish and stain the taps.

Where can I buy Zip CO2 canister replacements for sparkling water taps?

You can buy Zip C02 gas replacements directly from us here at Wellbeing Group. Click here to purchase the correct replacement for your sparkling Zip Tap.

My Zip Tap is not dispensing water, what shall I do?

Firstly, enquire whether the water supply to your building has been interrupted at all, often it could be down to localised water pressure. Next, try checking that the water supply to the Zip under counter unit is turned on. Sometimes this could be isolated by a member of staff by mistake and would prevent the cold water supply reaching the tap. Also, check that the power is turned on, and see if there are any error messages shown on the display screen. If you do have an error message showing on your Zip tap, it may be best to speak to one of our service team on 01905 337187

Coffee Machine for Co-working Spaces

A guide to choosing the right coffee machine for your co-working space.

This guide will help you decide the right coffee machine for coworking spaces.  With more people working remotely or seeking more flexible work spaces, coworking spaces are being increasingly popular.  You may be an independent start up and having worked around the clock and invested your hard earned cash into renovating a space, you want to see the biggest return on investment.  ROI from a coworking space is only going to come from your clients using the space to its maximum potential.

Coworking doesn’t work for everyone, however, by creating a space with lots of different working environments it can help attract a larger client base.  Some people love to work in a vibrant, bustling workspace, whilst others prefer a quiet corner at times to put their head down to the work.  A lot of people are happy working in a coffee shop so providing good coffee in your co-working space will help draw these people to your space, you really need to take the coffee culture in your coworking space to the next level.  Holding free trial days in your space can help build momentum when you’re looking to attract more clients, and having a coffee machine offering top quality coffee will go a long way.  Remember that a lot of these people will have been used to buying 2 or 3 cups of coffee per day from coffee shops and if you offer this free in your space, this will be a big magnet as they could actually see themselves saving a few pennies each day by working from your space.

Co-working doesn’t work for everyone, however, by creating a space with lots of different working environments it can help attract a larger client base. Some people love to work in a vibrant, bustling workspace, whilst others prefer a quiet corner at times to put their head down to the work. A lot of people are happy working in a coffee shop so providing good coffee in your co-working space will help draw these people to your space. You really need to take the coffee culture in your coworking space to the next level, holding free trial days in your space can help build momentum. When you’re looking to attract more clients, and having a coffee machine offering top quality coffee will go a long way.  Remember that a lot of these people will have been used to buying 2 or 3 cups of coffee per day from coffee shops. If you offer this free in your space, this will be a big magnet as they could actually see themselves saving a few pennies each day by working from your space.

So how do you decide which is the best coffee machine for your co-working space?

Firstly, you need to consider who is your captive audience and how many drinks will be vended per day?  These points mean a lot. If you are looking to create a ‘coffee shop style’ environment, you really want to look at a traditional espresso coffee machine to create the authentic feel about your space.  The Merano Group coffee machine will create some of the best espresso’s you can imagine. However, the biggest draw back of having a traditional espresso machine is that you will need someone to operate the machine. We can provide you support and barista training but you will need to consider whether you want to be making the coffee manually rather than using an automatic bean to cup machine for your coworking space. The number of drinks required per day will also determine the capacity of machine you will require.  There’s no point spending extra on a huge coffee machine if the maximum capacity in your coworking space is 20 and vice versa. So if you’ve got a 100 plus users you will need to look at a machine that is capable of making coffee all day long.

There are many options when it comes to a bean to cup machine and they are usually split into two types; granulated milk and fresh milk. We usually recommend the granulated milk type as they require less cleaning and there is no risk of milk going off in the machine as it’s a freeze dried product.  Granulated milk has come a long way in recent years and our product is 100% skimmed milk, which isn’t sweetened like the traditional whitener and all the drinks are ‘skinny’! Fresh milk coffee machines do have the edge over granulated milk but they will need to be cleaned each night to flush out the milk pipes and help prevent them blocking up. Unless you have a dedicated front of house person or cleaner, the cleaning can be an issue which is why it may be better for you to consider the granulated option.

Minimising touch points is a hot topic right now and therefore we have created a touchless coffee machine!  Our Aviano coffee machine has the ability where you can select your drink from 2cms away from the screen without actually touching it. It’s very clever but simple technology and we highly recommend this coffee machine for your coworking space. It looks great and offers a wide range of drinks, covering most of the range that a coffee shop offers.  The Aviano has high capacity and the Maxi version will cater for 100 users having the largest ingredient canisters available on the market.

Don’t forget the tea drinkers!

The Aviano Dual actually has a real leaf tea brewer so is an all-in-one coffee machine that also offers tea and chocolate. If you would prefer people to make their own tea, would recommend the Billi boiling and chilled water tap for your coworking space as it will dispense boiling water on demand so people spend less time at the tea point. Whilst usually you may want to encourage people to natter whilst making their brew. With the Covid restrictions, a lot of kitchens are limiting the amount of users at any one time so the quicker they are the better.

Top 5 benefits of offering good coffee machines for co-working spaces:

  • Attract people who are used to working in coffee shops.
  • People will prefer working in your space rather than from home.
  • Create a good talking point that people can have in common and help enjoy the company of others.
  • Customers could save money working from your space rather than buying coffee from retailers.
  • Help you to retain customers by creating the warm and inviting experience.

We trust you find this article useful, please feel free to get in touch with our team if you would like any further tips or advice.  Whether your a coworking space in Birmingham or London, we are here to help you choose and install the right coffee machine for your space.

This touchless hot tap looks a good idea, it is still early days in the market so will be interesting to see how performs compared to the touchless Billi taps and other rivals.  Downside of this system is that it’s only touchless and if you touch it, it won’t dispense water which could be a potential issue if the infrared sensors fail. Water options available with this touchfree Zip tap:

  • Boiling Water
  • Boiling & Filtered Water
  • Boiling & Chilled Water
  • Boiling, Chilled & Sparkling
  • Chilled Water

Who should be interested in the boardroom’s coffee machine?

Any company that wants to impress should consider a boardroom coffee machine. If you’re a manager, assistant or even an employee who sees the need for a hot drinks machine in your boardroom, then this concerns you. A quality coffee machine for your business should be thought of as a clever investment.

Why is the right coffee machine important in the boardroom?

A high quality coffee machine is an easy and effective way to impress clients. Offering a visitor a coffee-house style beverage will go much further than a mug of instant coffee. Beginning a conference by supplying refreshments sets the tone and builds a comfortable atmosphere.

Being unprepared when it comes to hot drinks in boardroom meetings can influence a client or visitor’s perception of the company. No coffee, or even bad coffee, can say a lot. It can be perceived as careless or cheap and won’t help to encourage any potential business partners to work with you.

Seeing as so much can be achieved with one simple drink, it is safe to say that it is pretty important to find the right machine for your company.

When should you consider the coffee machine for the boardroom?

There’s never a bad time to invest in a hot drinks station. You may have gotten by up until now with a kettle and a jar of instant coffee, but it will only take you so far. As your clientele grows and your business goals become larger, the refreshments should follow with it. For expanding businesses and high aspiring companies, it cannot be stressed how much of a worthwhile investment a coffee machine purchase is.

What factors should be taken into account?

When you begin your research, there are a few things to consider so you choose the best machine for your environment.

  • The price and method of payment is, of course, a driving factor. If you have a rough budget, this will help narrow down your search. Make sure your budget is realistic enough to get the right capacity machine for your needs though (but likewise, don’t unnecessarily overspend). It is helpful to look at the average price per cup against the number of coffees that will be consumed on a daily or weekly basis. Whilst it may be tempting to keep costs to a minimum it’s worth considering the growth of your company and the likelihood of having bigger clients visiting your boardroom.
  • Do you want to pay for the machine in one bulk payment or do you prefer to spread the cost in monthly instalments? Here at Wellbeing Group, we provide renting and leasing options to avoid one bulk payment. Although renting a machine means the equipment may not be officially ‘owned’ by you, rentals do have interesting benefits. Our rental agreements have the added benefit of providing free machine aftercare and maintenance. You are also able to upgrade your machine with more ease should the machine not meet your expectations  We are always happy to discuss the best option with you.

  • Coffee machines also require maintenance, accessories and cleaning products. Some of these extras are included in the cost, and some are charged extra, so it is advised to factor these in when deciding on your budget to avoid any surprise costs.

A word to the wise; watch out for companies that simply sell you a machine then leave you in the lurch! Some businesses may pounce at a ‘quick sale’ and then leave you hanging in terms of aftercare and support. Many online firms just contract out installations and servicing to third party engineers, resulting in control and personal service being lost. We give free comprehensive training and offer aftercare for our machines to ensure you get the most out of them.

Being an experienced, family owned and run business, we can offer you genuine advice e and have gained a strong reputation for a fast and friendly service. We have built up long-lasting relationships with our customers who trust us for our strong experience and high quality service.

  • What do you and your colleagues require from the machine? Coffee machines can offer a variety of drinks. Your colleagues may be after some hot chocolate or a cuppa, while you crave that strong black coffee! Britain is known for its love of tea, so a machine that offers a variety of hot beverages is definitely advantageous. Whilst it’s easy to assume visiting clients will want coffee, it’s never guaranteed. Perhaps your biggest lead may want coffee syrups or hot chocolate. Why not wow them and edge above your competitors by being able to provide it? In doing so you’ve got a foot in the door and are on your way to making a sale.

  • Wastage and energy consumption shouldn’t be overlooked. Certain systems will be more efficient than others. For example, the coffee pods used in some machines can’t be recycled. Some systems may have energy efficient modes when they are inactive. It very much depends on how much use the drinks station will get and the type of visitors that are likely to be in the boardroom. As ethical and environmental companies continue to gain popularity, ignoring this market or – worse still – presenting them with a cheap non-recyclable cup or non-degradable straw could be a simple mistake to make.

  • The boardroom coffee machine needs to be quick and efficient as possible. No premium time should be wasted on making coffees. No client wants to be left waiting for an extended period just to get a drink. You should also enquire about the noise levels that come from a particular machine, so as to minimise distraction.

Where should the machine be located?

If you have found a machine that performs quickly and quietly, then your machine should be placed in the boardroom, in full view. An attractive coffee machine can be somewhat of a showpiece. Build up the overall appearance of your boardroom by creating a comprehensive style.

Installation

Once purchased, it’s very important that the machine is properly installed. We recommend getting a fully insured professional to install your machine.
